Method — UAP Records Archive

This page describes the UAP Records Archive methodology. For HistoryWall methodology, see /method/.

1. Source Selection

Only records from official government agencies are included. P0 sources (NARA, NASA, ODNI, AARO, U.S. Congress) are highest priority. P1 sources (DoD, Navy, Air Force) are included when records originate directly from those agencies. No secondary sources, forums, YouTube, social media, or individual accounts are included.

2. Collection and Archiving

Records will be linked to their official source pages and archived via a snapshot service for long-term availability. Local copies will be maintained for P0, P1, and P2 U.S. agency sources only. P3 foreign government documents are linked only — not locally copied or publicly translated in the first release, in accordance with D-2 policy. Archive snapshots serve as redundancy against source URL changes.

3. Content Layers

Records are presented in layers of increasing editorial distance from the source:

  • Layer 0 — Original: The source document as released. Highest authority.
  • Layer 1 — Extracted text: Text extracted from the document for searchability.
  • Layer 2 — Summary: Editorial summary. Always labelled as summary, never as original.
  • Layer 3 — Translation: Translations of non-English documents. Never replaces original.

4. Review and Human Oversight

All records require 100% human review before publication. Arthur (site owner) must explicitly approve each record. No automated publication. Summaries and translations undergo additional review before being marked as published.

5. Corrections

Errors in any record can be reported via our Corrections page. Our target is to review correction requests within 72 hours. Records are not silently amended — corrections are logged and visible.
